Description:
A traverse of the Hohenstein, south of St. Pölten. A longer hike with a total of approx 1200m of elevation and some steep sections. With views of the Ötscher to the south and if the weather is good, as far as the Tote Gebirge towards the west. Lunch hut at the top (if there is room for us!)
Good physical fitness is required for this hike!
Route:
Schrambach – Hohenstein – Kirchberg an der Pielach
Meet:
Travel on the 7.30 train from Vienna HBhf or 7.37 from Meidling to St. Pölten, then by Bus to Schrambach.
Return:
Train every hour from Kirchberg – Wien. Depending on our speed and stops, should be back in Vienna by 7 or 8pm latest.
Cost:
Transport (with Vorteilscard): about €20

Equipment: Good hiking boots, raincoat, warmer layers, hat, sunglasses, suncream, snacks, drinks (at least 1.5 litres)
