Saturday, 15 September 2018: Wachau World Heritage Trail

*Description:*Enjoy hiking a portion of the Wachau World Heritage Trail. The hike from Dürnstein to Weißenkirchen is 17 kilometers. Along the way we will see one of the most popular ruin in Austria which was used as prison for King Richard the Lionhearted in the 12th century. Further, there is a wonderful rock and forest landscape around Dürnstein and great views as well as the famous wine terraces with vineyards named “Klaus“ and “Achleiten“. Tour Data: 878 m Ascent, 876 m Decent.

*Route:*Dürnstein (213m) – Ruine Dürnstein – Fesslhutte (524m) – Schildhütten (Weingut Pomassl) – Weißenkirchen (216m).

*Meet:*Near ticket machines at Wien Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof 07:45, train leaves at 08:04 to Krems

*Return:*Wien Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof 18:00 (or an hour later) depending on the pace of the group.

*Cost:*Approximately 15 Euros for train (Enface-Raus-Ticket) and bus rides.

*Note:*Please pack a lunch, snacks and drinks. We will stop for a drink along the way. Clothing according to weather.
