Class C

21-24 June, Summer in the Giant Mts, Czech Republic: Hut-to-Hut-trek

Description: We will hike along the main ridge (Czech-Polish border) of the highest Czech mountains (inkl the highest peak Schneekoppe 1602m) which is marked by knee timber, mat-grass meadows and subarctic highmoors. This habitat is of special importance in the Giant Mts (Riesengebirge in German/ Krkonoše in Czech) because of a relic of Arctic tundra, which was typical during the ice age in Central Europe.
Technically easy. The typical day on the route will involve about 7 hours of hiking ca 20 Km) in a not particularly steep terrain. Lunch huts are provided at all days. Overnights in typical Giant-Mts-huts (“Baude” in German) are of a good standard.
