Description: The Semmering Railway, which was constructed by Carl Ritter von Ghega in the years 1848-1854, was declared a cultural heritage site by UNESCO in 1998. From the hiking trail along the historic railway we can not only enjoy a good view into this mountainous area, but also get an insight into the pioneer work of Engineering with its 16 viaducts, 15 tunnels, 547 m difference of elevation between Gloggnitz and Semmering.

Route: Semmering (900m) – Wolfsberg – Doppelreiterkogel – Breitenstein (lunch) – Klamm (705m)

Meet: At 7:45 Station Wien Meidling (U6), near ticket machines. Train (EC 151) departs at 8:05.

Return: By train 5:38 p.m. from Klamm (alternatively at 6:48 p.m.)

Cost: Ca. EUR 20 for Train ticket (with Vorteilscard, full fare double)

Registration: By Thursday, 20 April, to hike leader

Note: Wear hiking boots and clothing according to the weather; bring Snacks and drink, rain protection.
