Description: Ludwid van Beethoven spent many summers in the suburb of Heiligenstadt, which was a popular place at the time to go for spa cures. On our walk we shall see the house where Beethoven wrote his “HEILIGENSTÄDTER TESTAMENT” and several other places where he lived as well as monuments.
AS OF 28 SEPTEMBER NOON THE WALK IS FULLY BOOKED. MEMBERS OF THE HIKING CLUB MAY STILL REGISTER. THEY WILL BE CONTACTED IF THERE IS A PLACE IN CASE OF CANCELLATION.
AS THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF INTEREST THE WALK MAY BE REPEATED IN NOVEMBER OR DECEMBER.

Route: Heiligenstadt/U4 – Wertheimsteinpark – Eroika Haus – Hohe Warte – Heiligenstädter Park – Grinzinger Straße – Probusgasse – Heiligenstädter Platz – Heuriger Mayer.

Return: The walk will last 2 – 2 1/2 hours.

Description: The Wachau, where the Danube river makes its way towards Vienna, is blanketed with vineyards and ornamented with cute villages and castles on the hills. MAMIMUM 10 PARTICIPANTS.
THIS TRIP WAS PLANNED FOR 12 OCTOBER, BUT, DUE TO AN UNFAVOURABLE WEAHTER FORECAST, HAS NOW BEEN POSTPONED TO OCTOBER 31ST. WE HOPE FOR MILD AUTUMN WEATHER, IN CASE THAT IT WILL BE AGAIN TOO COLD OR FOGGY/WINDY A HIKE NEAR VIENNA MAY BE ORGANIZED INSTEAD.

Route: Melk – Spitz – Weißenkirchen – St. Michael – Dürnstein – Krems

Meet: At 9:00 a.m. Wien Westbahnhof (U3/U6), upper hall; entrance from Felberstraße, from where there is an easy access to trains. Train departs at 9:20.

Return: By train from Krems, departing at 3:51 or at 4:51 p.m.

Cost: Ca. EUR 15 per person incl. transport of bicycle (sharing Einfach Raus ticket, exact price depending onnumber of participants). Leader will purchase Einfach Raus tickts. If you prefer to buy your own ticket please indicate it upon registration

Description: New Hike Leader Pavel Mikulin is offering: Lets make use of convenient direct trains that runs every hour from Vienna to Krems! Perfect destination as the weather might be too inconsistent for a more alpine mountain tour. We all know this area well, but its been a while since we have visited Dürnstein last time and we’ll make a surprise appearing from “backdoor” :) Distance approx 16 km.

Route: Krems – Waldhof – Fesslhuette (lunch) – Durnstein

Meet: 8:00 Heiligenstadt Bahnhof. Train leaves at 8:10

Return: from Dürnstein Parkplatz P2 bus to Krems Bhf leaves once in an hour on 24th minute. Train from Krems to Vienna.

Route: Kahlenbergerdorf – Eisernehandweg – Kahlenberg – Kahlenberger Friedhof – Nussberg – Nussdorf

Map: any Vienna city map will do, oscillating between Stadtwanderweg 1 and 1a

Meet: 10 am at Heiligenstadt (where buses are leaving)

Return: around 2 pm or later, depending on Heuriger

Description: Baden is famous for SPA and recently designated UNESCO Weltkulturerbe. Even the romans were here. Several members of the imperial family had their summer residence in Baden.

Route: Through Dobelhoff Park we enter the Helenental. We walk up at the Eugenvilla and pass Jägerhaus on our way to Sooss where we stop at a Heurigen for lunch and then continue to Bad Vöslau.

Meet: Meidling Station at 9.55 ticket office (train leaves at 10.07 from platform 1)

Return: Around 17.30 arriving Vienna

Cost: Public transport Vienna and from Stadtgrenze (Liesing) to Baden and return from Bad Vöslau to Stadtgrenze (Liesing).

Description: This classical Wienerwald Hike will take us from Vorderhainbach via Sophienalpe and Hameau to Häuserl am Stoan. There we shall enjoy a solid lunch, possibly with Martini Gansl.

Route: Vorderhainbach/Hohe Wand Wiese – Sophienalpe – Hameau – Dreimarkstein – Häuserl am Stoan – Sievering

Meet: At 9:20 a.m. at Hütteldorf, U4, exit Keißlergasse; bus (to Mauerbach) departs at 9:35

Return: By bus from Sievering at around 4p.m.

Cost: Public Transport tickets, plus lunch

Registration: As soon as possible in order to reserve sufficient space in Häuserl am Stoan. If you wish to eat goose (Maritinigansl is served all November) please indicate so on the registration form. It has to be ordered in advance.

We will not enter any museum, but you will be shown where some are. The focus is on parks, neighbourhoods, facades of houses, theatres, etc.

Route: We start at U6 station Währinger Strasse/ Volksoper and meander through the district to Schottentor. Towards the end we will relax in a Cafe

Meet: at 2 pm at U6 Station Währingerstrasse/Volksoper

Return: by 5 or later (depends on time spent in Cafe)
