Hainburg Hill Hike, 2021-11-13

~4 hour hike from Hainburg up Braunsburg hill. Please note, this is a RECONNAISSANCE hike. This means we will do a bit of route finding as it will be the first time for us all.

Nevertheless, look to enjoy vistas, ruins and a day out in the country!

Trip Date: November 13, 2021
- Meet at Wien Mitte at 09h
— Purchase a S7 ticket direction Wolfsthal bhf
— Purchase a flexible S7 return as the departure time is less certain
— Meeting location, in front of: DerMann, der verwöhnt (Landstraßer Hauptstraße 1A, 1030 Wien; https://goo.gl/maps/JTwUSvAVaKdjTiKa9).

- 1030h start to hike in Hainburg, see the linked trip report for the route (Green)

- Safety, Comfort and Other Considerations
— Note that washrooms seem to be typically porta-potties on the trip; an outbound ‘attend to matters’ is highly recommended.
— The trail involves moderate ascents and descents; good footwear and suitable physical fitness is required.
— The last ~200M requires walking along the secondary highway L167. It does not have a shoulder and is busy so extreme care is required.
— Poles are highly desirable for the initial descent from Hexenberg and then because portions of the trail down to the table-land is very rocky and strewn with boulders.
— Keep an eye out for gliders from the local airfield.

- Return from Bad Deutsch-Altenburg
— Trains run on the hour at xx04h
— Optional lunch based on group consensus

- Cost: per club rules for guests, no cost other than transportation for members.

Registration: by 1600h, 2021-11-12. Maximum 12 individuals.

Note:
- See the trip recon report for further details and photos: A Hill, A River and a Castle
