May 20: Dunkelsteiner Wald/Wachau
Description:
Around the base of Göttweig monastery’s big hill and into the great Dunkelsteiner Wald. A lovely forest walk leads us to the vineyards of the Wachau and finally to the ancient streets of Stein.
Route:
Göttweig – Klein Wien – Sandplatz – Am Hirschen – Am Giritzer – Mautern – Stein (optional Heuriger and Italian dinner).

Meet:
Wien Heiligenstadt station hall, 09.50. Train to Krems leaves at 10.10. We will get Einfach Raus tickets. Please be on time so that I know the exact size of the group. If you do not join us at the Heuriger and restaurant you must get your own ticket.
Return:
From Krems, arrival at Heiligenstadt 20.00; 18.00 if you do not join the après-walk activities.

Bring packed lunch and raingear (no shelter on most of the walk).
