Description: The pleasant 13 km hike leads us to one of the top summits in the Vienna Woods. We will cross this extended limestone massive from north to south with a challenging ascent: 600 m altitude difference, but quickly and easily climbed.
Although almost continuously in the forest, our easy trail down is varied: some stunning view points, different types of vegetation, beech- and pine-woods and vineyards in Gainfarn village. Finally we’ll find a cosy wine tavern to drink a glass of good red wine

Route: Helenental, Augustinerhütte (280 m) – Steiniger Weg – Hoher Lindkogel (834 m), Eisernes Tor mountain hut (lunch) – Hinterer Lindkogel (675) – Sooßer Lindkogel (713) – Vöslauer Hütte (489) – Sonnenweg – Gainfarn (286 m)

Meet: 7:50 a.m Wien Praterstern train Station/U1, U2, hall, ticket machines near the OEBB travel centre or Felber baker’s. Please buy a Return-Ticket: Wien Liesing to Baden. R-train for Wiener Neustadt dep 8:14, Wien Mitte 8:18, Wien Hauptbahnhof (platform 1) 8:26, Wien Meidling/Philadelphiabrücke U6 8:35, to Baden arr. 8:53. By bus to Augustinerhütte arr 9:30

Return: 6 p.m. Wien-Mitte

Cost: About € 10, – train and bus fare with Vorteilscard.

Registration: By Friday 22 November at the latest!

Note: Good hiking boots, waterproof and warm clothing, cap, gloves, hiking poles, snacks and hot drinks and a head lamp as the days are getting shorter.
