Sunday 27 September, Hocheck via Araburg Castle ruin

Hike Leader: Class: 8

Description: Not difficult hike on Hocheck (1037 m) with a viewing tower (Meyringer-Warte) and a shelter on the top. On the way the Araburg Castle ruin.

Distance: 21 km + 750 m total sum of climbing elevation differences

Route: Kaumberg (500 m) – Araberg (800 m) – Veilgkogel (810 m) – Hochriegel (880 m) – Hocheck (*1040 m) – Mittagskogel (860 m) – Kienberg (790 m) – Weissenbach an der Triesting (360 m)

Map: Wienerwald 1:50k (Kompass 209) or Wien und Umgebung 1:50k (Kompass 205) or Wiener Hausberge 1:50k (Kompass 210)

Meet: 6:30 at ticket machines in the main hall of Wien Hbf train station

Return: With a train from Weissenbach-Neuhaus Bahnhof at 17:18 (change in Leobersdorf Bahnhof). Arrival to Wien Hbf at 18:29

Cost: €15,60 Bus + €13,10 Train (normal price)

Note: Bus 169 at 7:00 from Busbahnhof Sudtiroler Platz Stand M1 with destination Mariazell Busbahnhof. Buy a ticket to Kaumberg/Triesting Marktplatz. Arrival to Kaumberg around 8:00. Lunch in Hocheck-Schutzhaus around 13:00 h. Please, bring drinks and wind/raincoat with you.
