Description: A circular hike will lead us from the rolling vineyards up to the granite-plateau of the Waldviertel with boulder strewn Scots pine woods. This countryside has remained relatively unspoiled. En route we will pass Romanesque and Gothic fortified churches, Burgschleinitz, a castle surrounded by water and finally we arrive Maissau, a small town with lots of medieval buildings. Every year Maissau castle, impressively lit up, serves as setting for the Maissau castle Christmas market. The first weekend of advent there will be a presentation of various wines, precious stones and handicrafts, which of course can also be purchased. In addition, there will be tempting culinary delicacies as well as music to guarantee a relaxing time, free of stress.
