WE 14/15 September 2019: Rax CANCELLED/ REPLACED BY 1 DAY HIKE
Description: The Rax is the second highest mountain of the Wiener Hausberge with a beautiful plateau and rather steep ascents. We will use the Reißtaler Steig to go up to the peak and smoothly down to the Habsburghaus on the first day. Overnight will be in the nice Habsburghaus. Depending on the weather and strength of the group, we will make a big round on the plateau and go back to Preiner Gscheid or hike to the cable car to go down to Hirschwang on the second day. The Reißtaler Steig is a Klettersteig A/B with a slightly exposed ladder. So please be sure, that you are sure-footed, have a head for hights and good condition.
Route: Preiner Gscheid – Reißtalersteig – Heukuppe – Habsburghaus (overnight) – somehow down…

Meet: 6:50 a.m. Bahnhof Wien Meidling ticket hall, train leaves at 7:05. Buy (return) ticket to Payerbach-Reichenau
Return: latest 8 p.m. Bahnhof Meidling
Cost: € 42.- train and bus (cheaper with Vorteilscard), Overnight max. € 28.- (Reduction for membership in Alpine Association and Lager instead of room)
Registration: by 10th September as I have to make reservation a downpayment of € 10.- at the hut, which you have to pay even if you cancel. Maximum 10 participants!
Note: Take some lunch for the first day, enough to drink, snacks.
Good hiking boots, mountain equipment, raingear, headlamp, sleeping sheet for the hut.
Membership with an Austrian Alpine Association is strongly recommended for insurance purposes!
