Description: Description: We snowshoe on the westside of Hochschwab, trips according snow and group, stay in the very gesellige Sonnschien hut.

It will be three days of snowshoeing in a a rugged terrain with hopefully a lot of snow. The first day you will need to be able to carry your backpack with all your gear and food for one day for about 4 to 5 hours up the hill to the hut. The back packs for these kind of hikes are about 40 to 60 litters in size because the winter gear you will need is bulky. We are staying in a very basic hut. There is water a (not drinkable and no hot showers only cold water) and electricity and no Mobile reception. There is a kitchen and a cook. Saturday we will do a long snowshoeing probably 6 to 7 hours and will need to carry our lunch and water and hot thermos. On Sunday I plan to do a short snowshoe hike and go on a a long way down to the valley after lunch.

This hike is for experienced hiker and snowshoes

Do you have all the needed equipment : waterproof hiking boots, snowshoes, poles, water proof and warm pants, and many other layer, gloves , hats….?
Alpenverein membership is highly recommended because of the danger in the mountains. Are you member of Alepenverein, Naturfreunde or have special insurance that will cover mountain rescue?
