Description:Starting from Hoellental Weichtalhaus (547 m), we scramble through the beautiful Weichtalkamm, up to Kienthaler Hutte (1386 m) and Fleischer Gedenkstein (1528 m) then skirt around Schneeberg, arriving eventually in Puchberg, where we catch the train back to Vienna. Total ascent approx. 980 m. Distance approx 16 km.

Route: Bus from Payerbach-Reichenau railway station to Hoellental Weichtalhaus (547 m), scramble through the beautiful Weichtalkamm (rocky gorge with some ladders-no special equipment needed) and up to Kienthalerhutte (1386 m), then contour round the edge of Schneeberg, Fadenweg, Roemerweg, Unternberg, Puchberg to catch the train back to Vienna.

Meet: 6:30 Praterstern in front of the ticket machines (stairs to 3-4 platforms). Train (S1 to Meidling) or be ready to board RJ 553 at Hautbanhof (6:58) or Meidling (7:05) direction Graz

Return: Leave Puchberg 17:38, arrive Meidling 19:22, or leave Puchberg 18:38, arrive Meidling 20:22, depending on the speed of the group and the weather conditions

*Cost: Buy ticket to Payerbach /Reichenau 17:60 euros one way (or 8:30 if you have Vortails card), Bus another 3:30 Euro plus return from Puchberg ( 30+ euro full price plus lunch in a hut)

*Note: Clothing according to the weather forecast. Strong boots with good ankle support essential. Sure-footedness and good physical condition. There is a lot of scrambling over boulders in the gorge, plus some ladders. Please bring plenty of water and snacks as the Weichtalhaus is closed, and Kienthalerhutte serves only drinks (long drop toilet with no running water, or drinking water tap). Lunch will be at Edelweisshutte at approx. 14:00. (limited menu). *
