Description:
From a base in Znojmo we will explore aspects of the Podyjí-Thayatal national parks – from geology and nature to 20th century politics.

Route:

- Znojmo – Dyje reservoir bank – Sealsfield rocks (panorama) – Popice – Kraví hora heath – Znojmo. Planned at Popice: guided landscape exploration and lunch at wine cellar.
- Havraniky – Hnanice (Dyje meander, Iron Curtain patrol road and border) – Heiliger Stein – Retz (train to Znojmo). Packed lunch.
- Znojmo – Gránice valley – ‘King’s Seat’ (panorama) – Znojmo. Packed lunch.

Meet:
Wien Floridsdorf station hall 25 October, 16.45. Train R 2238 to Znojmo leaves at 17.11. Can also be boarded at other stations on the line Meidling (dep. 16.44) – Floridsdorf. We meet in the first carriage.

Return:
To Floridsdorf, 28 October, 18.17.

Cost:
Train return full fare: EU 38.20, 3 overnights: EU 75-90 (to be confirmed).

Registration:
To the hike leader by 23 September. Maximum number of participants: 7. Priority to Club members; non-members can register can register for a waiting list.

Note:
- While the walks are only A, there are some steep slopes plus, on day one, brief sections of rough track where hands may have to be used and sticks are an obstacle, not a help.
- DON’T FORGET YOUR PASSPORT and check whether you need a Czech visa.
