3 September 2017: Bike Trip Melk to Krems
Description:
Bike ride through the famous Danube Wachau Valley, lined with ruined castles, beautiful abbeys, small towns, and vineyard upon vineyard. We will cycle at a moderate pace, taking in the scenery as we go. We will stop for lunch about 10-20 km into the ride. The bike path is relatively flat, going downstream with the river.
*Route:*Melk – crossing the Danube to cycle on the northside through Willendorf – Spitz – Durnstein – Krems.

*Meet:*09:10 Wien Bahnhof near ticket counters. Railjet 162 train departs at 09:30; arrival at St Polten Hbf where we will do a quick transfer to REX 1934 to continue on to Melk Bahnhof, arriving at 10:22.
*Return:*15:51 Krems/Donau Bahnhof on REX 2843 (leaving every hour depending on our schedule), arriving Wien Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof at 17:00 (0 changes).
*Cost:*About 40 Euros (including bike charge of 4 Euros). With Vorteilscard, the cost is roughly half.
*Registration:*By Wednesday, 31 August to hike leader (Max 5 due to limited space for bikes on trains).
Note: Clothing according to weather, rainwear, drinks, snacks, bike in good repair, bike helmets and suggest bike pants (you will thank me later).
