Saturday, 1.December 2018: Christmas Market at Stift Goettweig
Description: We hike in the scenic Wachau. Weather permitting our first stop will be to see the Mammut Baeume (giant trees). Our hike takes us to St. Blasen in Kleinwien where there will be a small Advent Market. Then we will hike up to Stift Goettweig and visit their annual Christmas Market which starts on this day. This is a Benedictine Monastery originally founded around 1083 and rebuilt after the fire of 1718.

Route: Paudorf – Mammut Baeume – Kleinwien (lunch at Landgasthof Schickh) – Stift Goettweig – Furth
Meet: 8:15 a.m. at Wien Hauptbahnhof at the ticket machines. Train to St. Poelten leaves at 8:30 a.m.
Return: approx. 5:30 or 6:00 p.m. to Vienna depending on how long we visit the Christmas Markets
Cost: approx EUR 32.00 full fare for train
Registration: by 29 November
Note: Please dress according to weather forecast. Bring drink and snacks. Hiking poles useful hiking down from Stift Goettweig.
