Hikeleader Paul Hesp
Class B 4-5
6 March 2016: Why is that there? (2)
Description:
This is the second in a planned series of hikes exploring changes (and persistent features) in the landscape by comparing the present 1:25.000 topographic map with Austrian topographic survey maps of the 18th and 19th centuries. This time we will walk from Vienna’s 19th district to… Vienna’s 19th district making a huge detour via a railway line on top of a stream, old factory sites and a Dutch hamlet to a nice Heuriger.
Route:
Kratzlgasse – Hackenberg – Salmannsdorfer Höhe – Dreimarkstein – Toiflbauer (lunch) – Hameau – Salmannsdorf or Neustift.
Map:
Österreichische Karte 1:25.000, sheet 5319 Ost Klosterneuburg. In addition, I will provide participants with copies of relevant parts of a 19th century map.

In front of Krottenbachstrasse S-45 station, by the advertising column, 11.00 (bus 35A also stops there).
